How to Customize and Send a Popup to the EV Drivers in ChargeWise
This is the third article in our 4-part Broadcasts series. Here we cover the pop-up channel - how to set up one and how it looks to drivers in the ChargeWise app. Coming up next in the series: Email.
What is a popup?
A popup is a rich, one-time message shown the moment a driver opens the app - the right format for announcements that deserve full attention, not just a spot in the notification stack.
Each popup consists of the following parts:
- A headline or inline image
- Title - this is where you enter the Headline of the notification card. Limited to 80 characters (including spaces).
- Body message - this is where you enter the CTA-based message to your EV Driver. By default, it's shown with a "Just now"-style relative timestamp so it always feels current. Limited to 300 characters (including spaces).
- An action button (optional) - Add a single primary action button that opens a driver-app page or an external link (for example, linking to the Rewards Marketplace), which also comes with the built-in X to close it.
ℹ Please note that:
- Because it's the most attention-grabbing of the three channels, it's best to use a Popup when aiming to make a big announcement for big moments - launches, promotions, and milestones drivers shouldn't scroll past.
- A popup is consumed the moment it's shown, and a broadcast can use the popup channel or the notification card, but not both at once.
Setting up a new popup
Creating a Popup takes the following steps:
- Log into your ChargeWise Admin app > navigate to Broadcasts > click the New broadcast button:
- Select Popup > then choose your Audience (All drivers, Specific drivers, Tiers, User groups, or User list) > click Next:

- and optionally, add one action button > Safe Draft:
- Click the Save draft button when you're ready with your draft. Once you do that, the PopUp will be added to the general Broadcasts overview, and you'll be able to see all the associated details before sending it out:
- Review the channel, audience, and estimated recipients of the Notification. Then click the Send Broadcast button. When you do that, a pop-up screen will appear > click Confirm & Send:
⚠️ Sending the broadcast out cannot be undone. Once a broadcast leaves the Draft status, it can no longer be edited.
- When you send it, the status will change from Draft > Pending:
and then from Pending > Sent:
