Welcome Onboarding Flow
I. What it is
The Welcome Onboarding Flow in the ChargeWise App is a short, 5-step intro system that is shown when a new user signs up for the first time in the app. It explains:
- How the loyalty program works before new users start charging.
- What to expect from points, tiers, and rewards.
- How to start using the app so that users start gaining value as soon as possible after their account is created.
II. What each step covers
- Welcome to ChargeWise — Confirms the loyalty account is active and previews the core loop: Charge → Earn → Redeem.
- Earn Points Every Charge — Explains that points are earned on every kWh, plus three bonus types: signup bonus, first-charge bonus, and special-date bonuses set by the operator.
- Climb the Tiers — Introduces the tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, i.e.) and shows the point thresholds needed to move up in the ladder.
- Redeem for Real Rewards — Shows what points can be exchanged for: charging discounts on the next session, or gift cards from top brands like Spotify, Steam, Uber, and many more.
- Get the App Experience — Prompts the driver to add ChargeWise to their home screen. Closes with a Start earning call-to-action button.
III. Why it's helpful
Sometimes, EV drivers don't realize loyalty is built into their charging. The onboarding flow:
- Sets the expectation that every charge earns points automatically — no extra steps required.
- Surfaces bonuses and the tier system upfront, so drivers know what's worth chasing.
- Makes redemption feel tangible by showing real brands and discount types.
- Boosts retention by encouraging drivers to install ChargeWise to their home screen.
IV. How a driver replays it
The intro only appears once by default. To see it again, a driver can go to:
Profile → Onboarding → Replay onboarding
Useful if they skipped it, want a refresher on tiers and bonuses, or are showing the program to someone else.
V. When to point a driver to this flow
- They ask "How do I earn points?" or "what do I get for charging?"
- They aren't sure what tier they're on or how to move up.
- They missed the intro on first launch and want a quick recap.
